Kevin Vasquez was born in Brownsville, Texas; the southernmost city that sits on the Mexican border and the Gulf of Mexico. Texas and Mexican pride informs his life and art. Kevin began playing clarinet and earned a position as a clarinetist in the US Army Band. He continued to served in the Army until 2020, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. His duty stations included:
-The 296th Army Band, re-designated as United States Army Japan Band in Camp Zama, Japan
-The 392D Army Band in Fort Lee, VA
-The Eighth US Army Band in Seoul, South Korea, and Camp Humphreys, South Korea
-The 4th Infantry Division Band Fort Carson, Colorado in Colorado Springs, CO.
While in the Army, he served as a clarinetist, vocalist, and drum major. Notable performances include:
-Japan Self-Defense Marching Festival at Nippon Budokan
-Jinhae Military Tattoo Festival in Jinhae, South Korea
-Ground Forces Festival in Gyeryong, South Korea
-A joint military concert at Seoul Arts Center
-Singing the Canadian and American national anthem for the opening of the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO.
Kevin is currently attending the University of Las Vegas, Nevada where he is pursuing a degree in Clarinet Performance and a degree in Jazz and Commercial Vocal Performance. He has studied with the following individuals:
